The 2022-2023 VEX Robotics World Championship took place across ten days in April of this year. Brian Lederer, Amateur Robotics Enthusiast, shines the spotlight on the team who caught his eye the most at VEX: Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU).
The VEX Robotics World Championship invites competitors from all around the world, every single year. This year, the competition took place in Dallas, Texas. More than 80 university teams came together for this year’s VEX Robotics World Championship, which took place across 10 days in April 2023. One shining star really caught the attention of Amateur Robotics Enthusiast Brian Lederer: the VEX team of Shanghai Jiao Tong University! Originally formed in 2018, the SJTU VEX team has had quite the record over the last five years, at all levels of the VEX competition. This year, they took home plenty of gold and glory, including awards for VEX U Robot Skills Challenge World Champion and Design Division Champion. Team Leader Wu Ruixing reflected on the experience after returning home to Shanghai, China, saying the experience was “both motivating and somewhat overwhelming.” But overall, those weeks of “burning the midnight oil … to prepare for the competition, all became worth it when we got to lift the championship trophy.” Well done, team!
